PATS was recently at the 5th Kenya International Scientific Lung Health Conference (KISLHC).

The conference took place in Nairobi from 25 to 28 June 2019.  It provided a platform for the dissemination of the most updated information and developments in research and clinical practice in the field of lung health and respiratory medicine.

PATS President Dr Joseph Aluoch, who is also a Patron of the Kenya Association for the Prevention of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases (KAPTLD) now Respiratory Society of Kenya (ReSoK), the conference co-organisers, was in attendance.  Dr Aluoch delivered a keynote address during the opening ceremony on the “The Economic costs of the Burden of Respiratory Disease in Africa”; participated in a panel discussion on Universal Health Care and represented PATS in a discussion regarding Partnerships for lung health.  

PATS Spirometry facilitator, Lindsay Zurba, held a 1-day Spirometry Workshop at the conference where she trained 45 participants.  She also ran a Healthy Lungs For Life Event providing free lung function testing to conference delegates, thanks to support from the European Lung Foundation.
